BLKDG provides shopify migration services for brands moving from Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and custom platforms to Shopify Plus. We handle every layer of the migration — URL mapping, SEO preservation, customer data integrity, product catalog transfer, and redirect strategy — so day one on Shopify feels like day 1,000. No traffic cliffs. No broken customer accounts. No months of recovery.

The migration you keep putting off

The cost of staying on a dying platform compounds every day. The cost of a properly executed migration is zero lost traffic and a better store on the other side.

You have heard the horror stories. A brand migrates to a new platform and organic traffic drops 40% overnight. Redirects are incomplete. Customer accounts are broken. The SEO equity built over years evaporates in a weekend deployment. Three months later they are still recovering, still explaining the revenue gap to their board, still finding broken URLs in Search Console.

That fear is rational. Botched migrations are one of the most expensive mistakes an e-commerce brand can make. And because the risk is so high, most brands do the other expensive thing: they stay on a platform they have outgrown. They absorb the slow page loads, the limited checkout customization, the mounting technical debt, and the developer costs that keep climbing because every change on an aging platform is harder than the last.

The villain is not the migration itself. The villain is the uncertainty. You cannot see what a clean migration looks like because every story you have heard is about one that went wrong. So you stay. And the platform you have outgrown quietly taxes every sale, every page load, and every customer experience you deliver.

Why most Shopify migrations fail

The agencies that botch migrations treat them as a data export and import. They move the products and call it done. But a migration is not a data transfer. It is a complete remapping of how search engines, customers, and third-party integrations find and interact with your store. Skip the URL mapping, skip the redirect strategy, skip the customer account migration, and you are not migrating — you are starting over and hoping the search engines forgive you.

What your current platform is costing you while you wait

Every month on an aging platform is a month of slower page loads costing you conversions, limited checkout flexibility suppressing AOV, and developer hours spent patching a codebase that should be replaced. The performance gains alone from moving to a modern Shopify theme often pay for the migration within the first quarter. Waiting is not free. It just feels safer.

There is a way to migrate to Shopify without losing a single ranking, a single customer, or a single night of sleep.

It starts with treating the migration as an SEO and data integrity project, not just a platform swap. We have done it over 40 times with zero traffic loss.

Why BLKDG for Shopify migrations

Shopify Migration Services Built by an SEO Agency That Ships Stores

We have watched brands lose months of organic traffic to migrations that treated SEO as an afterthought. That is why every migration we run starts with the URL map and redirect strategy before a single line of theme code is written.

BLKDG is not a migration tool vendor. We are a full-service SEO and Shopify development agency that handles migrations end to end — from the initial platform audit through launch day and the 90-day monitoring window after. We build the custom Shopify theme, map every URL, write every redirect, migrate every customer record, and verify every integration before a single DNS change is made.

Our team includes SEO engineers and Shopify developers working on the same migration. That is the difference. The agency building your new store is the same agency ensuring your search equity survives the move. No handoffs. No gaps. No “the SEO team will handle that later.”

How our Shopify migration services work

Audit. Migrate. Verify. The Only Migration Process That Works.

01

We Audit Your Current Platform Top to Bottom

Before anything moves, we run a complete technical SEO audit of your existing store. Every URL is cataloged. Every redirect chain is documented. Every customer data structure, product attribute, and integration touchpoint is mapped. We identify which pages carry the most SEO equity, which URLs are already broken, and where the risk sits. The output is a migration plan with a complete URL map, redirect ruleset, data migration spec, and a launch checklist — before a single line of code is written on the new platform.

02

We Map, Build, and Migrate Everything in Parallel

While the new Shopify store is being built, the migration is running alongside it. Product data, customer accounts, order history, and metadata are migrated into staging. Redirects are implemented and tested against the URL map. Third-party integrations — Klaviyo, reviews, subscriptions, loyalty — are reconnected and verified. The new theme is built with the same URL structure or mapped one-to-one with redirects covering every variation. Nothing goes live until every redirect resolves, every customer record validates, and every integration fires correctly in staging.

03

We Verify Before Launch and Monitor for 90 Days After

Launch day is the least dramatic day of the project. Every redirect has been tested. Every customer account has been verified. Every product page matches its metadata. We deploy, force a crawl in Search Console, and then monitor — daily — for 90 days. Indexation rates, ranking movement, redirect resolution, 404 rates, and organic traffic are tracked against pre-migration baselines. If anything shifts, we catch it in hours, not months. Day one on Shopify should feel like day 1,000.

We Migrate From the Platforms That Are Holding You Back

Magento to Shopify

Escape the Maintenance Burden

Magento migrations are the most complex and the most rewarding. Custom database structures, layered navigation, configurable products, and multi-store setups all require careful mapping. We have migrated Magento 1 and Magento 2 stores to Shopify Plus with full data integrity, complete redirect coverage, and zero ranking loss. If your Magento hosting and development costs are climbing every quarter, the move to Shopify pays for itself faster than most brands expect.

WooCommerce to Shopify

Stop Patching WordPress for Commerce

WooCommerce stores outgrow their infrastructure at a predictable point: the plugin stack becomes fragile, checkout customization hits a wall, and page speed degrades under product catalog weight. We migrate WooCommerce stores to Shopify with URL structure preserved, product data cleaned and restructured, and the plugin functionality replaced by native Shopify features or vetted apps. If your WooCommerce store feels like it is held together by plugins, it is time.

BigCommerce to Shopify

Move to the Ecosystem That Scales

BigCommerce to Shopify migrations are often driven by app ecosystem limitations and theme flexibility. We migrate product data, customer accounts, and order history with full fidelity, map the URL structure to Shopify conventions, and handle the SEO transition so rankings are preserved through the move. The Shopify ecosystem gives you access to the apps, integrations, and development community that BigCommerce cannot match at scale.

What happens when a Shopify migration goes wrong

The Cost of a Botched Migration

Organic traffic drops 30-50% overnight and takes months to recover.

Incomplete redirect maps are the most common cause. Every URL that returns a 404 instead of a 301 is a page that Google removes from the index. If your highest-traffic pages are among them, the revenue impact is immediate and the recovery timeline is measured in quarters, not weeks.

Customer accounts are broken and trust evaporates.

Customers log in and see an empty order history. Loyalty points are gone. Saved addresses are missing. They contact support, get a password reset email they did not expect, and start wondering if their payment information was handled correctly. The trust you spent years building is undermined by a data migration that was treated as an afterthought.

SEO equity built over years is destroyed in a single deployment.

Domain authority, page authority, backlink equity, and structured data signals do not transfer automatically. Without a deliberate <a href="/seo-migration-services">SEO migration strategy</a>, the new store launches as if it has no search history at all. Your competitors inherit the rankings you vacated.

Third-party integrations fail silently and revenue leaks undetected.

Klaviyo flows stop triggering. Review widgets display empty. Subscription renewals fail. Analytics tracking breaks and you lose attribution data during the most critical period of the migration. Every integration that is not explicitly tested in staging is an integration that will fail in production.

Stay in your zone of genius

You Run the Brand. We Run the Migration.

A platform migration touches every layer of your business — products, customers, orders, integrations, SEO, and design. Coordinating that across multiple vendors, timelines, and risk factors is not what you should be spending your time on.

Hand us the migration. We handle the technical audit, the URL mapping, the data migration, the theme build, the integration reconnection, and the post-launch monitoring. You focus on running your brand, serving your customers, and planning what you will do with a modern platform that actually keeps up with your growth. If the new store needs to push beyond what standard Shopify can deliver, we build headless Shopify storefronts on Hydrogen that give you full creative and performance control.

FAQ

Before you ask.

No. We run the migration entirely in staging before a single DNS change is made. Your current store stays live and fully operational throughout the build, data migration, and verification phases. The cutover itself — pointing DNS to the new Shopify store — is a controlled switch that typically takes minutes, timed to your lowest-traffic window. Orders placed in the hours around cutover are reconciled manually if needed, and that process is planned and documented before launch day.

Most migrations take 8 to 16 weeks depending on catalog size, data complexity, and integration requirements. Magento migrations with custom database structures tend toward the longer end. WooCommerce and BigCommerce migrations with cleaner data are often faster. We scope the timeline precisely during the audit phase so there are no surprises.

Shopify does not support direct password migration due to encryption differences between platforms. We use Shopify Multipass or bulk invite flows to give customers a seamless re-authentication experience. The goal is that customers log in once, see their full order history, and never notice the platform changed underneath them.

We reconnect Klaviyo and every other integration in staging before launch. Flows, segments, and automations are tested end to end against the new store data. If your lifecycle program needs to be rebuilt or optimized during the migration, our Klaviyo team handles that as part of the project.

Yes. Every migration includes a custom Shopify theme or a headless Hydrogen storefront, depending on your requirements. The theme is built in parallel with the data migration so both are ready for staging at the same time. We do not migrate stores onto marketplace templates.

We monitor for 90 days post-launch. Indexation rates, organic traffic, redirect resolution, 404 rates, and ranking movement are tracked daily against pre-migration baselines. If anything shifts, we respond in hours. The migration is not complete until the monitoring window confirms that traffic, rankings, and data integrity are holding.
