BLKDG is looking to fill multiple mid-level/senior Developer roles responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins from scratch. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and an understanding of core design principles required to build beautiful websites. Successful candidates must display exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills and can demonstrate high-quality work. All candidates must be passionate about their area of specialization and should offer insight into how they can help improve BLKDG’s digital capabilities. Your Day-to-day:

  • Prepare assets from design files (usually Sketch, though knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop is also needed)
  • Set up and execute development in a local environment (WP Local).
  • Use our base starter theme, version control through git, and staging server for project consistency and continuity
  • Build the project following the provided design comps, pushing database changes to staging and code to version control regularly.
  • Deploy the completed site to the production server, maintaining the integrity of the code base as required, over time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
  • 3 years experience developing mobile-first responsive websites and/or web applications
  • Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
  • Proficient understanding of GIT and version control in general
  • Familiarity with package managers like Composer and NPM
  • Familiarity with task runners like Webpack and Gulp
  • Understanding of PHP & how the language is used within the WordPress environment
  • Comfortability with custom back-end PHP development & working with MySQL
  • Minimum of 3 years working with PHP

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Advanced Custom Fields
  • Familiarity with component-based development practices
  • Familiarity with React and/or Vue.js
  • Familiarity with API integrations, especially as it pertains to passing first-party data to Google Analytics and CRM Solutions

Pre-employment Expectations

Candidates can expect a maximum of 3 interviews and to complete a paid skills evaluation test. The interviews will be informal where BLKDG can assess cultural fit and communication style. The skills test will be quite vague and open for interpretation. Candidates will be expected to spend no more than a day (8 hours) on the test which will be fully compensated.

Compensation

Salary range: $70,000 – $100,000

Other

This is a hybrid remote and on-site role, and applicants should be willing to spend 1-2 days per week in our Denver-based office.
