Abita Expands, BLKDG Delivers: Website Enhancements for a Growing Brand

After the successful 2024 launch of Abita Brewing Company’s new digital platform — designed and built by BLKDG — our collaboration continued with an eye toward their onward growth and expansion. With the company continuing to evolve and their audience steadily growing, we asked: what’s next? How could we make their website even better, showcase new milestones, and create an even more engaging experience for fans both online and in person? These strategic upgrades are the next chapter in our ongoing partnership with Abita.

Expanding the Brand Experience Online
When Abita opened a brand-new location in New Orleans, they needed their digital presence to reflect this exciting milestone. The challenge was making sure the website promoted the new location while still giving prominence to their original Covington, Louisiana taproom. To solve this, we enhanced the Visit section of the website to highlight both locations side by side. Each location has its own dedicated page, linked directly from the Visit menu, so visitors can explore the unique offerings at either destination and easily plan a trip to New Orleans or Covington.

This expansion also brought new complexity to Abita’s Events section. Fans needed clarity on which events were happening at which location. Our solution was to restructure the Events page, creating a seamless browsing experience where users can easily find activities specific to each brewery. The result is a clearer, more user-friendly events hub that helps fans engage with Abita’s community offerings.

Refreshing the Online Shop Experience
Beyond location updates, Abita also wanted to strengthen their direct-to-consumer presence. The existing online shop needed a refresh to feel more modern, on-brand, and intuitive. In phase two of our work together, we delivered a design overhaul that streamlined navigation and aligned the digital storefront with Abita’s vibrant personality. The refreshed eCommerce experience now provides a more engaging and enjoyable journey for shoppers — including a simplified checkout that now features Google Pay and Apple Pay — making it easier than ever to complete purchases while better supporting sales and strengthening brand loyalty.

A Partnership That Continues to Grow
From updating the Visit and Events sections to reimagining the online shop, these enhancements ensure Abita’s website grows alongside their business. The challenges were clear: showcase a second location, restructure content for clarity, and refresh the consumer shopping experience. The solutions — thoughtful design, seamless functionality, and a renewed brand presence — now deliver results that position Abita for continued success both in-person and online.
