BLKDG is offering an INTERACTIVE WEB DESIGN internship to qualified candidates. This position is open for course credit based on the candidates’ requirements. Successful candidates must display exceptional skill and can demonstrate high-quality work in the field of development and design. All candidates must be passionate about their area of specialization and should offer insight to how they can help improve BLKDG’s digital capabilities. We look for students who demonstrate a clear point-of-view relating to their work, especially as it relates to the world of digital media and development. Your day to day:

Design product features and functionality, navigation flows, site architecture plans, wireframes, prototypes, functional specifications, and marketing collateral to support product development

Work closely with multiple development squads to review UI’s and communicate desired user outcomes

Participate in design reviews with members of the UI and Engineering teams

 

Requirements:

Able to produce and test interaction flows and mocks that accurately communicate web functionality to marketing, engineering, and visual design team members.

Have an understanding of research paired with an intellectual curiosity that encourages testing and iteration is essential.

Have an understanding of modern web and/or mobile environments such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Android UI, and iOS UI, as well as how the technologies of each can be used to further enhance the overall experience.

Have an appreciation for aesthetic details and a generally high level of production quality are encouraged.

 

Minimum qualifications:

Be currently enrolled in a BA/BS or MS in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Fine Arts Design, or related field, and graduating in winter 2015, 2016 or 2017.

Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after completion of the internship.

Preferred qualifications:

Strong design background in interaction and/or graphic design and/or motion design fundamentals.

Solid analytical, creative and visual thinker with excellent communication skills, both verbal and visual.

Ability to apply brand visual assets in a user interface context and understanding of user-centered design principles.

A design portfolio that demonstrates strong design principles for web and/or mobile platforms.

Familiarity with front-end engineering and/or working with engineers.

Demonstrable proficiency with design tools (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator, After Effects, Quartz Composer, Framer Studio, etc.).
